Runaway Girl Army tells a story from the point of view of dozens of characters, taking place in real time during 2011.
A few characters will be introduced to you right away, and many will be “unlocked” over time.
Some characters go by pseudonyms, as do many people online. Part of the challenge will be to discover their real names, and as much as you can about their lives, by carefully reading their tweets, blog posts, and the like.

Die Database
Yuma Natsume (guitarist and singer)
Yuma grew up in Hakone, Japan, a tourist-centered city near Mt. Fuji. She was discovered by a talent scout, and became a Junior AV Idol during her teens. She made a number of DVDs and photo books, but eventually felt exploited by her talent agency. Eventually, she met Masae Ekiguchi, and they started a band called 99% Natural.
Masae Ekiguchi (drummer)
Masae grew up in Yokohama, Japan. Ever since she was a young girl, her goal was always to become a famous rock musician. As soon as she finished High School, she moved to Tokyo to pursue her dream. She worked at a Circle X convenience store at night, and by day searched the city for potential band mates. Eventually, she met Yuma Natsume, and they started a band called 99% Natural.
Satomi Kurogane (bassist and songwriter)
Satomi grew up in Kamakura, Japan, a city known for its many temples and tourists. Her goal was always to become an accomplished visual artist, and she moved to Tokyo after High School to pursue her studies. After college, she traveled to the San Francisco Bay Area for two years, to study English and perfect her art. During this time she had a creative breakthrough which lead to her invention of holographic sculptural technology. Moving back to Japan, she incorporated as Agartha Labs, and pursued her new career as a visual and special effects artist. Eventually, she teamed up with 99% Natural, and the three women became Die Database.

MirrorPlay (Miranda) is girl who lives in Portland, Oregon. She attends High School, and is highly enthusiastic about music, be it from the US, Japan, or anywhere else in the world. She lives with her mother, and her older brother is in college. She became a fan of Die Database about a year ago, and met her best friend, TokiDokiDucky (Tokie) through her fandom. Even though TokiDokiDucky lives in Japan, the two of them stay in constant contact via the internet, and virtually (via Agartha Labs “Ghost” avatar technology).

TokiDokiDucky (Tokie) is a young woman who lives in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. She has finished High School, and works part time at a Circle X convenience store. She was one of the first 99% Natural fans, and is acquainted with all members of Die Database. She met her best friend, MirrorPlay (Miranda) through her fandom. Even though MirrorPlay lives in the US, the two of them stay in constant contact via the internet, and virtually (via Agartha Labs “Ghost” avatar technology).

EurythmyGirl (Kaia) is a women in her late 20s, who lives in Munich, Germany. She works as a librarian, and is highly interested in music, photography, and Anthroposophy. She came across the music of Die Database during a vacation to Tokyo, and met TokiDokiDucky and MirrorPlay via the Die Database Fan Cloud.
