Runaway Girl Army is a collaborative fiction, starting in 2011.
It will be spread over many web sites, blogs and social media channels, and will have regular events in the here and now.
You can read it just like a serialized novel, with new updates almost every day, or you can dig deeper to more fully understand the characters and their lives. Music, movies, art, public events – the experience is constantly evolving and growing through many different media. You can even become a part of the story, and shape its ultimate outcome.
If you need to catch up, please see the Season One Summaries. The summaries are detailed, yet only offer a fraction of the full story content.
Nicholas Allen Freeman is the primary author and publisher, but many other artists, musicians, actors, film makers, bloggers, and other creative types will be involved in this expansive project. See the Creators section for more details.
I was born into the Unitarian Universalist church, but from an early age I’ve found a solid foundation in the Bible. I’ve also studied and practiced many other traditions that seemed to be “positive”, but my guiding compass is Christ. However, my unquenchable thirst for knowledge – secular, spiritual and scientific – has always been both a boon and a stumbling block. I’ve been assisted and assaulted by spirits, and driven crazy and sane many times by looking too strongly into the Sun in all of our hearts. I’ve also been strongly touched by the Goddess that has been suppressed by Western culture, while has led to many blessings but also much heartache. I’ve tried to account for that journey and struggle via this modern-day myth.
Runaway Girl Army is meant to serve as a cautionary tale. The philosophies that the characters believe in are not necessarily my personal guidelines. The cosmology and historical timeline I discuss is intentionally distorted for artistic reasons, and due to plot points yet to be revealed. In some ways certain characters represent parts of my past experience, or observations I’ve had of others, and in other ways they are meant to demonstrate metaphysical concepts, both good and bad. In general, they are trapped in a seemingly never-ending cycle of pain and suffering that the don’t yet understand how to escape. As a group, they need serious help.
My best advice is to exercise a childlike faith in the Creator rather than rebel and reach for the flaming sword. I choose Jesus as my savior, and my advice is for you to do the same. I thank God every day that I am able to live and hopefully help others during my life, but part of that help has to be to acknowledge my severe limitations. Whether or not I’m able to finish this particular story, I hope it will guide at least one person out from the darkness.
